:
One who does evil to his fellow brother has in fact done evil to his own self.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Indeed the servant commits a sin, and as a result he is deprived of the Night Prayer. And verily the evil deed pierces into and affects the one who committed it faster than a sharp knife can pierce into meat.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Imam al-Sadiq (as), with regards to Allah's verse: "Indeed good deeds make amends for evil deeds." said: "A believer's prayer in the middle of the night makes amends for the sins he has committed during the day."

Imam al-Kazim (as):
Self-admiration [‘Ujb] has stages, some of which are: when a person’s evil deed is made to seem fair to him so he views it as good and is impressed by it and thinks that he is doing well. [Another stage is] when a person comes to believe in his Lord and considers it a favour to Allah, Mighty and Exalted, while it is Allah who has done him a favour [by guiding him to faith].

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Allah has made good [deeds] heavy [difficult] for the dwellers of this world just like the heaviness of their weight on their scales on the Day of Judgment, and Allah has lightened the weight of evil [deeds] on the dwellers of this world just as the lightness of their weight on their scales on the Day of Judgment.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
The one who does not take account of himself every single day is not one of us. And when he performs a good deed, he should ask Allah to enable him to do more, and when he commits an evil deed, he must seek Allah's forgiveness and repent for it.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
[When God wills to forgive the sins of] a servant who has committed a lot of sins and does not have, in his record, enough good deeds to efface them, God afflicts him with grief so that He may remit his sins.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
One who plans to perform a good deed but fails to do it, [the reward of] a good deed will be written for him, and one who plans to perform a good deed and actually performs it, ten good deeds will be written for him. One who intends to commit an evil deed but does not commit it, nothing will be written against him, and one who intends to commit an evil deed and actually commits it, only one evil deed will be written against him.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
He who commits evil against people is not to complain when evil is done unto him, for the son of Adam reaps exactly what he sows. And sour seeds never yield sweet crops as sweet seeds do not produce sour crops.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
I asked Imam al-Sadiq (as) about the state of a man who commits a sin on account of which he becomes fearful and apprehensive [of its consequences], then he performs a good deed which makes him impressed with himself. The Imam replied: 'The first state where he is fearful for his sin is better than the one where he feels impressed with himself.'
