Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): Regarding the words of Allah: “We will gradually draw them near (to destruction) whence they know not.”, Imam al-Sadiq (as) said, 'This is about a person who commits sins, and thus is given more bounties, and those bounties distract him from seeking forgiveness for the sin.' al-Kāfī
