Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): Be patient with [acts of] obedience to Allah and resist against [acts of] disobedience to Allah, for verily the life of this world is but an hour; as to that which has passed, its joy and grief are gone and as to that which is yet to come, you have no idea how it will turn out. Therefore you should exercise patience in the present hour, for if you do so, it is as if you have spent your entire lifetime in happiness and joy. al-Kāfī
