Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): I said to Imam al-Sadiq (as), 'I have some relatives who do not adhere to the same faith as I do [they are not Muslims or Shia], do they have any rights upon me?' The Imam replied, 'Yes, nothing can negate the right of kinship. If they adhered to the same faith as you do, then they would have two rights upon you, the right of kinship and the right of Islam. al-Kāfī
