Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): We seek refuge in Allah from the sins which hasten one's destruction, make death nigh and empty the lands. These sins are: cutting off ties with one's kin, insolence [to one's parents] and abandoning the performance of kind acts. al-Kāfī
