Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): Supplicate and do not say, "the matter has already been decreed", for verily there is a station with Allah that can only be attained through supplication. And if a servant was to shut his mouth and ask for nothing, he would not be given anything, so ask and you will be given, for any door that is knocked upon is very likely to be opened for its knocker. al-Kāfī
