:
If justice is maintained among people, they will become free from need, the sky will pour down its sustenance [rain], and the earth will bring out its blessings [plants, fruits and minerals] with the permission of Allah Almighty.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
He who wakes up in the morning and retires at night having this world as his greatest concern, Allah places poverty between his eyes, disbands his affairs, and he will not collect from this world more than what Allah has apportioned for him. As for the one who wakes up in the morning and retires at night having the Hereafter as his greatest concern, Allah places needlessness in his heart and mends his affairs for him.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
It is written in Torat: O san of Adam! Devote yourself exclusively to my worship and I will fill your heart with wealth and will not leave you to your need and it will be upon me to end your poverty, and fill your heart with awe of Me. However, if you do not devote yourself exclusively to my worship, I will fill your heart with preoccupation with this world, then I will not end your poverty and will leave you to your need.

Imam Ali (as):
Imam al-Sadiq (as) wrote to one of his companions: 'I advise You and myself to fear the One whose disobedience is not permissible, and none is hoped other than Him, and riches is not obtained except through Him.'

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The most sufficient of riches is experienced by the one who is not subject to greed.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
O Hisham, He who wants freedom from Want without the need for riches, and comfort of the heart free from jealousy, and security in his faith should implore Allah, Mighty and Exalted, in his plea for Him to perfect his intellect. One who uses his intellect will be content with that which suffices his essential needs, and one who is content with that which suffices his essential needs will be rich, whereas one who is not content with that which suffices his essential needs will never experience riches [he will always want more and will never be satisfied].

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
A man complained to Imam al-Sadiq (as) that he sought livelihood and earned enough but that he was not satisfied and his self [Nafs] disputed for more. Then he said, 'Teach me something I can benefit from.' The Imam replied, 'If that which satisfies your needs suffices you, then the very least from this world will be sufficient for you, but if what satisfies your needs does not suffice you [and you want more], then all that the world contains will not be sufficient for you.'
