Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Among the rights of the believer upon his fellow believing brother is having love for him in his heart, assisting him financially from his own wealth, substituting him in his family [supporting them when he is gone], and helping him against the one who has wronged him.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
Among the rights of a believer upon his fellow believing brother is to satisfy his hunger, cover his body, solve his problems, pay his debt, and when he dies, to substitute him in his family and his children [fulfill their needs on his behalf].

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Indeed each of you is a shepherd responsible for his own herd. The commander of the people is their shepherd and responsible for his herd, just as a man looks after his household and is responsible for them, and a woman tends to her husband and children and is responsible for them.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
One who goes to the bazaar to buy a present for his family is like one who has given some charity to needy people. One must put a higher priority on giving gifts to his daughters over his sons.
