Imam al-Kazim (as):
There is no medicine except that it exacerbates another ailment, and there is nothing more beneficial to the body than self-restraint from all except that which the body needs.

Imam Ali (as):
Imam Ali (as) said to his son al-Hasan (as), 'O son, shall I teach you four things that will make you needless of medicine?' He said, 'Yes, O Commander of the Faithful.' He said, 'Do not eat food unless you are hungry and get up from eating whilst you still desire to eat more, chew well, and before you sleep go and relieve yourself. If you do these you will be needless of medicine.'

Imam Ali (as):
Speech is like medicine; a little bit of it benefits, and a lot of it kills.

Imam Ali (as):
There are four categories of sciences: juristic science for religions, medicine for physical bodies, grammar for language, and astronomy for knowledge of the times.
