الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
دَعِ الْكَلَامَ فِيمَا لَا يَعْنِيكَ وَ فِي غَيْرِ مَوْضِعِهِ فَرُبَّ كَلِمَةٍ سَلَبَتْ نِعْمَةَّ وَ لَفْظَةٍ أَتَتْ عَلَى مُهْجَةٍ.
Imam Ali (as):
Quit speaking about something that does not concern you, or saying something in the wrong place, for many an utterance took away a blessing and many a [spoken] word led to bloodshed.

أعجبوا لهذا الإنسان ينظر بشحم و يتكلّم بلحم و يسمع بعظم و يتنفّس من خرم.

You should be amazed with [the creation of] man, who sees with a piece of fat, talks with a piece of flesh, hears with a bone and breathes through a hole.

لَا يَكُونُ الْعَالِمُ عَالِماً حَتَّى لَا يَحْسُدَ مَنْ فَوْقَهُ وَ لَا يَحْتَقِرَ مَنْ دُونَهُ وَ لَا يَأْخُذَ عَلَى عِلْمِهِ شَيْئاً مِنْ حُطَامِ الدُّنْيَا.
Imam Ali (as):
A scholar will never be a [true] scholar until he does not envy one who is above him, does not belittle one who is lower than him [in rank], and does not exploit his knowledge to gain the low pleasures of this world.

الامام الحسین (علیه السلام):
لا تَتَكَلَّمَنَّ فيما لا يَعنيكَ فإنّي أخافُ علَيكَ الوِزرَ، ولا تَتكَلَّمَنَّ فيما يَعنيكَ حتّى تَرى لِلكلامِ مَوضِعا.
Imam al-Hussain (as):
Imam Husayn (AS) said to Ibn Abbas, Do not speak about things that do not concern you, for I fear for you the burden [of sin], and do not speak about things that concern you until you find speaking to be appropriate.

إنَّ اللّهَ عَزَّوجلَّ يقولُ: تَذاكُرُ العِلمِ بينَ عِبادي مِمّا تَحيا عليهِ القُلوبُ المَيِّتةُ إذا هُمُ انتَهَوا فيهِ إلى أمري.
