The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Verily the one who enjoins good and prohibits wrong must possess three qualities: he must be gentle in his enjoining of good and his prohibition of wrong, he must be just with regards to what he enjoins and what he prohibits, and he must have sufficient knowledge about what he enjoins and what he prohibits.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
The Prophet (SAWA) was asked: 'Who are the best companions?' to which he replied: 'Those who remind you of Allah when you look at them, whose speech adds to your knowledge and and whose acts make you remember the Hereafter.'

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
He who is not knowledgeable must not be deemed prosperous, and the one who is not affectionate and loving towards others must not be deemed praiseworthy.

Imam Ali (as):
A scholar who conceals his knowledge [not teaching it to those who are worthy of it] will be raised on the Day of Resurrection with the most offensive smell and will be cursed by all creatures.

Imam Ali (as):
The lowest form of knowledge is that which remains on the tongue [and is not put into practice] and the most superior form is that which is manifested through [the action of] the limbs and the organs of the body.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
He who seeks knowledge for Allah, no sooner does he learn even a chapter of it than it increases him in humility within himself, in humbleness in front of people, it increases his fear of Allah and his striving in religion, and that is the one who benefits from the knowledge, so he should acquire it.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
There are four signs of knowledge: knowing Allah, knowing those who love Him, knowledge of obligations [laid down by] Allah, and attending to them until one fulfils them.

Imam Ali (as):
O seeker of knowledge! Verily the scholar has three signs: Knowledge, clemency, and silence. And an ignorant man who feigns knowledge has three signs: he quarrels with his superior by disobeying him, wrongs his subordinates by trying to dominate them and supports the oppressors.

Imam al-Jawad (as):
Allah, mighty and Exalted, placed in every prophet’s community some knowledgeable individuals who called those who had fallen astray back to guidance and endured with them the troubles.
