The Prophet Muhammad (S)

مِن الجَفاءِ ... أن يُدعَى الرَّجُلُ إلى طَعامٍ فلا يُجِيبَ أو يُجِيبَ فلا يَأكُلَ.

It is considered loathsome if a man does not accept when he is invited to a meal, or does not eat after accepting the invitation.

قالُوا [الحَوارِيّونَ لعيسى عليه السلام ]: يا رُوحَ اللّهِ، فمَن نُجالِسُ إذا؟ قالَ: مَن يُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللّهَ رُؤيَتُهُ، ويَزيدُ في عِلْمِكُم منطِقُهُ، ويُرَغِّبُكُم في الآخِرَةِ عَمَلُهُ.
