The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Let not your affection for your wife and children incite you to commit sins and forbidden acts; verily Allah says in the Quran, ‘The Day when neither wealth nor children will avail, except for him who comes to Allah with a sound heart.’

Imam Ali (as):
Allah will not punish the common people for the sins committed by the elites as long as they commit evil deeds in secret and the common people do not know about them. However, if the elites perpetuate evil deeds openly and the common people do nothing to change their conduct, both classes will deserve punishment from Allah, Mighty and Exalted..

Imam Ali (as):
He who is overpowered by sins is not victorious, and he who secures victory through evil means is [in fact] defeated.

Imam Ali (as):
The curse of God be upon the fools for committing sins, and on the clement ones who gave up prohibiting them from sins.

Imam Ali (as):
Imam Al (AS) said in his sermon: "I seek refuge in Allah from the sins which hasten one’s death. Then Abdullah ibn al-Kawa’ stood up and asked: 'O Commander of the faithful, are there such sins which hasten one’s death? To which the Imam (as) replied: "Yes indeed, [it is] cutting off ties with one’s kin."

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When Imam al-Sadiq (AS) was asked about a group of people who commit sins and ,at the same time, express hopes [in God's mercy and forgiveness], and remain thus until death overtakes them, said: "These are people who swing back and forth between their desires. They are lying and are not really hopeful, for the one who hopes for something seeks it, and the one who fears something flees from it."

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When you think of doing something wrong, just do not do it, for verily it may be that Allah inquires about a servant and finds him committing wrong upon which He says: "By My Might and Glory, I will never forgive you after that."

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
All sins are severe [in requital], but the severest of them are those that result in the growth of [polluted] flesh and blood.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
Verily Allah has a caller [amongst His angels] who calls out every day and night: ‘Slow down, O servants of Allah, and abstain from acts of disobedience to Allah, for were it not for the grazing animals, suckling babies and the elderly who bow down to Allah, punishment would surely pour down on you.'
