Imam al-Kazim (as):
Do not give away of yourself to your brothers so much that the loss incurred upon you supersedes the benefit for them.

Imam Ali (as):
Our Shia are those who give generously in our friendship, love one another in the light of our love, visit one another to revive our cause, those who if angered do not wrong, if pleased do not go to extremes. They are blessings to their neighbors, and at peace with those they associate with.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Shall I inform you of the best virtues in the world and the hereafter? [They are] pardoning someone who has wronged you, reconciliation with the one who has cut you off, doing good to the one who has done bad to you, and giving to the one who has deprived you.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Overlook the mistakes of the people who perform acts of courtesy and forgive them, for verily God Almighty protects them like this –and the Imam held his hand as if it was shading something.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
[When God wills to forgive the sins of] a servant who has committed a lot of sins and does not have, in his record, enough good deeds to efface them, God afflicts him with grief so that He may remit his sins.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
Our Shi'a (followers) are those who give generously due to [their adherence to] our guardianship, who love each other due to their love for us, who visit each other to preserve our cause, who, when they get angry, do not wrong anyone, and when they are happy, they are not extravagant . They are blessings for their neighbors and at peace with those they associate with.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
A man came to the prophet (s) and said, 'O messenger of Allah, my family are only intent on harming me, cutting me off and abusing me. Shall I abandon them?' The prophet (s) said, 'Then Allah will abandon you all.' He said, 'What should I do then?' The prophet (s) said, 'Maintain relations with those who cut you off, grant those who deprive you, and pardon those who are unjust to you, and once you have done so, Allah will support you against them.'

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Humbleness has stages; that one knows the value of his self and places it in its right position with a sincere heart, that he likes to treat people the same way he expects them to treat him, that he responds the wrong with good, that he controls his anger and forgives the people. And Allah likes the good doers.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Verily charity will bring more abundance to its donor, so give charity and Allah will have mercy on you. And verily Humbleness elevates one's status, so be humble, and Allah will raise your status. And verily pardon will increase one's honour, so do pardon and Allah will grant you honour.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
O Hisham, The Commander of the faithful used to say: God is not worshipped through anything better than the intellect, and man's intellect will not be perfect until he possesses different qualities: disbelief and evil are far from him, development and goodness are expected from him, he gives away the excess of his wealth and restrains the excess of his speech, his share from this world is that which is enough to maintain him, he is never satiated with knowledge throughout his life, and prefers lowliness when being with God to honor when being with other than Him, humbleness is more loved by him than dignity, he regards the little good done by others as being much and regards the abundance of good that he himself does as being little, he considers all people to be better than him and considers himself to be worse than them.
