Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Maintaining relations with one's kin purifies one's actions, brings about an increase in wealth, repels misfortunes, eases the account [on the Day of Resurrection], and delays one's appointed time of death.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Many a seeker of the world who did not achieve it, and many a person who, as soon as he achieved the world, departed from it; so let not seeking the world preoccupy you from performing good deeds, and seek the world from its granter and owner, for many a covetous person for the world who was struck down by it, who was preoccupied by what he had secured of this world from seeking his hereafter until his life came to an end and his death overtook him.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Imam al-Baqir (AS) narrated that when his father, Imam Ali Zayn al-Abidin (AS) was approaching death, he hugged him close to his chest and said, ‘O my son, I am advising you of the same thing that my father advised me in his will when he was approaching death, and the same thing that he said his father advised him - O my son! Beware of wronging one who has no helper against you but Allah.’

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
[Consider] your sojourn in this world just as a temporary residence that you stayed in and [soon] departed from, or as wealth that you attained in a dream then you awoke and not a thing from it remained with you.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Imam al-Sadiq (as) with regard to the verse of Allah, ‘So when it reaches the throat [of the dying person], and at that moment you are looking on [at his bedside], And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see - Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed, bring it back, if you should be truthful?’ said, When it reaches the throat of the dying person and then [upon his death] he sees his position in Paradise, he says, Take me back to the world so I can inform my family of what I see. Then it will be said to him, There is no way for this to happen.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Six things benefit a person after he passes away: a child who seeks forgiveness for him, a copy of the Qur'an which he leaves behind, a plant that he planted, water that he donated in charity, a well that he had dug, and a tradition that others take from him and [practise] after him.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Three things follow a person when he dies: his family, his wealth and his deeds. Two of those retreat and only one remains: his family and wealth retreat and his deeds remain with him.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Increase your remembrance of death, for any servant who increases its remembrance, Allah will revive his heart and ease death for him.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Imam al-Sadiq (as), with regard to Allah's verse in the Qur'an: "For them is good news in the life of this world", said, 'It is that these two give them glad tidings of Heaven at the time of their death, meaning Muhammad and Ali (as).'
