A man congratulated another on the birth of a son in ʿAlī’s presence, saying, ⟨May the warrior bring you joy!⟩ ʿAlī rebuked him: Don’t say that! Say instead: May you thank your divine benefactor, may his heavenly grace encompass this child who is his gift, may the child grow to full strength, and may you be blessed with his devotion!
