Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Of the best deeds in the sight of Allah is bringing happiness to a believer; either by driving away his hunger, or relieving him of his distress, or repaying his debts.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
The Prophet (s) said: 'He has no faith in me who sleeps the night satiated while his neighbour is hungry.' He has also said: 'No sooner do the people in a village sleep at night while there is someone in their midst who is hungry than Allah will not look at them on the Day of Resurrection.'

Imam Ali (as):
Imam Ali (as), in his will, before his martyrdom said, 'By Allah, by Allah, [pay attention] to orphans. Do not be inconsistent with feeding them, coming one day and abandoning them the next, and do not deprive them of your presence, as I have heard the Prophet (s) say, 'Whoever supports an orphan until he becomes free from need, Allah will make it incumbent for him to enter Heaven just as He has made Hellfire incumbent for the consumer of the property of the orphan.'

Imam al-Sajjad (as):
One who feeds a believer and alleviates his hunger, Allah will feed him from the fruits of paradise.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
No sooner do the inhabitants of a village go to sleep at night while there is someone in their midst who is hungry than Allah will not look at them on the Day of Resurrection.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
Whoever gives a poor Muslim clothes to cover himself with or something with which to maintain himself, Allah, Mighty and Exalted, will appoint for him seventy thousand angels who will seek forgiveness for every single sin he has committed until the day when the trumpet will be blown [Resurrection Day].

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The rights of a believer upon his fellow believing brother are that he must not satisfy his own hunger while his brother is hungry, or quench his own thirst while his brother is thirsty, or be dressed in [fine] clothes while his brother has no clothes to wear. How great are the rights of a Muslim upon his Muslim brother.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
Among the rights of a believer upon his fellow believing brother is to satisfy his hunger, cover his body, solve his problems, pay his debt, and when he dies, to substitute him in his family and his children [fulfill their needs on his behalf].
