الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

لَا تَطْلُبَنَّ الْإِخَاءَ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْجَفَاءِ وَ اطْلُبْهُ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْحِفَاظِ وَ الْوَفَاء .

Imam Ali (as):

Do not look for brotherhood among disloyal people, rather, you should look for it among committed and loyal people.

عَلَيْكَ بِإِخْوَانِ الصَّفَا فَإِنَّهُمْ زِينَةٌ فِي الرَّخَاءِ وَ عَوْنٌ فِي الْبَلَاءِ .

Adopt [the friendship of] genuine friends for they are adornments in times of comfort and an effective aid in times of ordeal.

الْإِسْلَامُ عُرْيَانٌ، فَلِبَاسُهُ الْحَيَاءُ، وَ زِينَتُهُ الْوَفَاءُ، وَ مُرُوءَتُهُ الْعَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ، وَ عِمَادُهُ الْوَرَعُ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Islam is naked, and its clothing is modesty, its adornment loyalty, its valour good deeds, and its pillar piety.

He who points out to you your faults and protects you while you are away is truly a sincere friend, so make sure not to lose such a friend.

He who loses a brother [whose brotherhood is] for the sake of God is as if he has lost the best limb out of all his limbs.

الإسلامُ عُريانٌ؛ فَلِباسُهُ الحَياءُ، وزِينَتُهُ الوَفاءُ، ومُرُوءَتُهُ العَمَلُ الصالِحُ، وعِمادُهُ الوَرَعُ، ولِكُلِّ شَي ءٍ أساسٌ وأساسُ الإسلامِ حُبُّنا أهلَ البَيتِ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

Islam is naked, and its clothing is modesty, its adornment loyalty, its valour good deeds, and its pillars piety. Everything has a foundation, and the foundation of Islam is the love for us, the ahl al-bayt (the household of the Prophet).
