الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
إنّ مِن أكبَرِ السِّحرِ النَّميمَةَ؛ يُفَرَّقُ بها بَينَ المُتَحابَّينِ، و يُجلَبُ العَداوَةُ علَى المُتَصافِيَينِ، و يُسفَكُ بها الدِّماءُ، و یُهدَمُ بها الدُّورُ، و يُكشَفُ بها السُّتورُ، و النَّمّامُ أشَرُّ مَن وَطئَ علَى الأرضِ بقَدَمٍ
The greatest of sorcery is slandering, for through it loved ones are broken up, animosity is brought in between sincere friends, blood is shed, houses are demolished, veils are uncovered, and the talebearer is the most evil creature that has laid a step on this earth.
