Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Allah will not speak to three people on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and there is a painful punishment for them: One who unrightfully claims the position of Imamate from Allah, One who rejects an Imam appointed by Allah, and one who assumes that these two have any share in Islam.

Imam Ali (as):
O’ servants of Allah, devote your efforts to taking provision in the short period of this world for the long lasting day of Judgment; for this world is the abode of action, whereas the Hereafter is the abode of [permanent] settlement and Requital [of Deeds].

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Allah has a Garden that no one enters other than three types of people: a man who judges himself with truth, a man wo visits his brother for the sake of Allah, and a man who prefers his brother over himself for the sake of Allah.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Allah has a Garden that no one enters other than three kinds of people: a man who judges himself with truth, a man wo visits his brother for the sake of Allah, and a man who prefers his brother over himself for the sake of Allah.

Imam Ali (as):
View the world through the eyes of one who has renounced it and separated from it, for verily its inhabitants are quick to depart it and its opulence inflicts distress, that which has turned its back and gone away is not hoped to return, and that which is yet to come is not known enough to be expected.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Endure [the hardships and temptations of] this world, for it is no more than an hour. What has passed, you will find neither its pain nor its sorrow, and what is yet to come, you do not know what it will be like. The world is the hour in which you live; So be patient, in it, with acts of obedience to Allah, and be patient in keeping away from acts of disobedience to Allah.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Abu Dhar, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say in his sermon, O seeker of knowledge, let not your family or your wealth distract you from yourself, for when you depart from them you will be like a guest who stayed with them for the night and left them in the morning.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
[Consider] your sojourn in this world just as a house that you stayed in and [soon] departed from, or an object of perfection that you witnessed in a dream then you awoke and not a thing from it remained with you. I have given you this parable because this world, according to the people of intellect and knowledge of Allah, is just as the shadow in the shade.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The person who wakes up in the morning and retires at night having worldly affairs as his greatest concern, Allah places poverty between his eyes, scatters his affairs, and he will not take from this world more than what Allah has apportioned for him. As for the one who wakes up in the morning and retires at night having the Hereafter as his greatest concern, Allah places needlessness in his heart and brings together his affairs for him.

Imam Ali (as):
Reject this world, for the love of this world makes one blind, deaf, dumb and humiliates people.
