Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The scholar has three signs: He knows Allah and he also knows what He loves and what He detests.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
There are four signs of knowledge: knowing Allah, knowing those who love Him, knowledge of obligations [laid down by] Allah, and attending to them until one fulfils them.

Imam Ali (as):
… then Allah sent Muhammad with truth so that he may take out His servants from the worship of Idols into His worship, from obeying Satan into His obedience, by virtue of a book [the Quran] which He clarified and solidified, so that the servants may know their Lord after being ignorant of Him and acknowledge Him after denying Him.

Imam Ali (as):
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, the One, who has no partner; a testimony whose sincerity has been tested, in whose essence we believe. we shall cling to it as long as we live, and preserve it for the hardships that we are to face; for it is the source of strength in our faith, the first step towards good deeds and Allah’s pleasure, and the means for driving Satan away.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Three qualities are among the signs of the believer: His knowledge of God, [his knowledge of] the ones He loves and the ones He despises [his knowledge of God's friends and His enemies].

Imam Ali (as):
A servant will never savour the taste of faith until he knows that that which afflicts him would never have missed him, and that that which has missed him would never have touched him, and that the only One to induce harm and benefit is Allah, Mighty and Exalted.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
God’s religion is Islam and it was God’s religion even before you came into being and after you came into existence, so whoever confesses to God’s religion is a Muslim and whoever acts upon what God Almighty has commanded is a believer.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
[Consider] your sojourn in this world just as a house that you stayed in and [soon] departed from, or a property that you found in a dream then you awoke and not a thing from it remained with you. I have given you this parable because this world, according to the people of intellect and knowledge of Allah, is just as the shadow in the shade.

Imam al-Reḍa (as):
God is all-aware in the sense that nothing escapes His attention or evades Him, [His knowledge being] independent of experience or consideration of things, for experience and consideration in turn produce two types of knowledge, without which He would not know [if he were to be dependent on them], and would therefore be ignorant.

Imam Ali (as):
Every Knowledgeable person acquired knowledge after he was ignorant, while Allah was never ignorant and thus He never learned.
