Imam Ali (as):
The person who is most likely to be reformed is the one who hastens to remedy his vices as soon as he becomes aware of them.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
O Abazar, one who is able to weep [over his sins] must do so, and one who is unable to weep must accustom his heart to sorrow and endeavor to weep. Verily [one with] a hard heart is far from Allah but they perceive it not.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When the soul reaches here -and he pointed to his throat- there will be no repentance for a knowledgeable man, then he recited the verse: “[Acceptance of] repentance by Allah is only for those who commit evil out of ignorance..."

Note: [Acceptance of] repentance by Allah is only for those who commit evil out of ignorance and then repent promptly. It is such whose repentance Allah will accept, and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise. But [acceptance of] repentance is not for those who go on committing misdeeds: when death approaches any of them, he says, ‘I repent now.’ Nor is it for those who die while they are faithless. For such We have prepared a painful punishment. [The Holy Quran 4:1/18];

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Allah’s happiness upon the repentance of His servant is greater than the happiness of a man who finds his provision and his mount after losing them in the middle of a dark night.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Every single person has a white spot on his heart, and when he commits a sin, a black dot appears in the white spot, so if he repents, the black dot disappears, but if he continues to indulge in sins, the black dot expands until it engulfs the white spot and when that happens, he will never return to good and that is the purport of God's verse in the Quran: "...No, that is not the case! Rather, their hearts have been sullied by what they have been earning."

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Verily Allah, Mighty and Exalted, becomes happy when His believing servant repents, just as you become happy upon finding something you have lost.

Imam al-Reḍa (as):
The similitude of seeking God's forgiveness is that of a leaf that falls down from a tree when it is shaken. However, one who seeks God's forgiveness for a sin while still committing the sin is as one who is mocking his Lord.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When a servant increases his seeking of forgiveness, [on the Day of Judgment] the book of his record will be raised while shining brightly.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
The one who does not take account of himself every single day is not one of us. And when he performs a good deed, he should ask Allah to enable him to do more, and when he commits an evil deed, he must seek Allah's forgiveness and repent for it.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When Allah wants good for a servant who commits a sin, He follows it with a punishment and reminds him to ask for forgiveness. But if Allah, wants bad for a servant who commits a sin, He follows it with a favor that makes him forget to ask for forgiveness and continue sinning. This is the meaning of Allah's verse, "We will draw them imperceptibly [into ruin], whence they do not know": with favors whenever they sin.
