الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
بِالعَقلِ استُخرِجَ غَورُ الحِكمَةِ ، و بِالحِكمَةِ استُخرِجَ غَورُ العَقلِ .
Imam Ali (as):
Through intellect is the depth of wisdom explored, through wisdom is the depth of intellect explored.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
رَوِّحُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ بِبَدِيعِ الْحِكْمَةِ؛ فَإِنَّهَا تَكِلُّ كَمَا تَكِلُّ الْأَبْدَانُ‏.
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Bring solace to your souls with articles of wisdom, for the soul gets tired just as the body gets tired.

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
إنَّ العاقِلَ رَضِيَ بِالدُّونِ مِنَ الدّنيا مَعَ الحِكمَةِ، ولَم يَرضَ بِالدُّونِ مِنَ الحِكمَةِ مَعَ الدّنيا؛ فَلِذلكَ رَبِحَت تِجارَتُهُم.
Imam al-Kazim (as):
Verily the man of intellect contents himself with less worldly things when accompanied with wisdom, and does not content himself with less wisdom and more worldly things, and this is why their trade [of the transient for the permanent] profits them.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
غِنَى الْعَاقِلِ بِحِكْمَتِهِ وَ عِزُّهُ بِقَنَاعَتِهِ.
Imam Ali (as):
An intellegent person's needlessness is due to his wisdom and his honour results/ comes from his contentment.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْقُلُوبَ تُمَلُّ كَمَا تُمَلُّ الْأَبْدَانُ فَابْتَغُوا لَهَا طَرَائِفَ الْحِكَمِ.
Imam Ali (as):
These hearts get bored, as bodies get tired, so seek wise sayings [to revitalise the hearts].

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
خُذِ الْحِكْمَةَ أَنَّى كَانَتْ فَإِنَّ الْحِكْمَةَ ضَالَّةُ كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ.
Imam Ali (as):
Seek Wisdom wherever it may be, for wisdom is the lost property of every believer.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
إذا قدّمت الفكر فى أفعالك حسنت عواقبك و فعالك‏.
Imam Ali (as):
If you place contemplation before your action, the outcome will be good, and so will your acts.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
أصل السّلامة من الزّلل الفكر قبل الفعل و الرّويّة قبل الكلام‏.
Imam Ali (as):
The principle of remaining safe from error is to reflect before doing something, and to ponder before talking.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
الْفِكْرُ فِي الْأَمْرِ قَبْلَ مُلَابَسَتِهِ يُؤْمِنُ الزَّلَلَ.
Imam Ali (as):
Reflecting on a matter before engaging in it will keep one safe from error.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
إنّ رأيك لا يتّسع لكلّ شيي‏ء ففرّغه للمهمّ‏.
Imam Ali (as):
Your mind does not have the capacity to grasp everything, so keep it for what is important.
