The Prophet Muhammad (S):
A believer’s love for another believer is of the greatest branches of faith. indeed, One who loves for Allah, hates for Allah, gives for Allah and withholds for Allah is among the chosen servants of Allah.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as) said, Persevering with an action is harder than [performing] the action itself. Then he was asked, And what doe’s preserving an act mean? The Imam (as) replied, A man maintains relations with his kin and spends in the way of Allah, the One, who has no partners, therefore, [the reward of] a good deed which was done in secret is recorded for him, then he mentions his good deed in the presence of others, thus the very good deed is recorded as something done in public, then he mentions it again and this time it is recorded as something done for showing off.

Imam Ali (as):
Three characteristics distinguish a show off: he is energetic and active whilst in the presence of people, but he is lazy when he is by himself, and he loves to be praised for everything.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Every act of showing off is tantamount to polytheism. Verily whoever acts for people [and not Allah] the reward of his act will be upon people. [he should not expect any reward from Allah.]

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Allah, glory be to Him, says, 'I am the best of partners, for whoever performs a deed for Me as well as for someone else alongside Me, I will not accept it, except for that which is done for Me alone.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Beware of showing off, for whoever performs good deeds for anyone other than Allah, Allah relegates him to the one he acted for.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Verily the angel [charged with man's deeds] rises up with a man's good deeds, delighted on account of them, but when he raises his good deeds up [to heaven], Allah says, 'Go and place them in the Sijjin, as he did not perform these deeds for Me. Note: Sijjin: proper name given in the Qur'an to a written record of the evildoers' deeds.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Perform good acts only for Allah, not for showing off or publicity, for whoever acts for any reason other than for Allah, Allah will leave him to his own act.

:
:
One who seeks Allah with little good deed, Allah will give him more than what he asked for. And one who seeks people['s approval and admiration] with a great deal of deeds exhausting his body and keeping vigil at night, Allah will make his great deeds seem insignificant in the eyes of those who hear about them.
