Death, not shame! Poverty, not begging! Someone who doesn’t receive while sitting will not receive when standing.

He whom death overtakes early calls for more time, and he whose death is deferred continues to put forth excuses with further procrastination.

There are three things that hinder a person from seeking the lofty: low ambition, few stratagems, and weak opinion.

The worth of a man is in proportion to his ambition, and his chastity is in proportion to his possessiveness [Ghayrah] over his own wife.
