مَنِ اسْتَذَلَّ مُؤْمِناً وَ اسْتَحْقَرَهُ‏ لِقِلَّةِ ذَاتِ يَدِهِ‏ وَ لِفَقْرِهِ، شَهَرَهُ‏ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلى‏ رُؤُوسِ الْخَلَائِقِ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

He who degrades a believer and scorns him for his poverty or lack of means, Allah, most High, will publicly disgrace him on the day of judgment.

عَجَبا للمُختالِ الفَخورِ ! و إنّما خُلِقَ مِن نُطفَةٍ ثمّ يَعودُ جِيفَةً ، و هُو فيما بينَ ذلكَ لا يَدرِي ما يُصنَعُ بهِ!

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):

How I wonder at the one who is proud and boastful; He was created with a sperm and will turn into a carcass and between these two states, he doe’s not know what will happen to him.

عَجَبا للمُتَكبِّرِ الفَخورِ الذي كانَ بالأمسِ نُطفَةً ثُمّ هُو غَدا جِيفَةٌ!

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

It is surprising to see an arrogant and proud person who yesterday was but a sperm and tomorrow will be but a carcass.
