The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Abandon disputation, for the first thing from which my Lord prohibited me after the worship of idols, was disputation.

Imam al-Jawad (as):
Whoever gives a speaker his full attention has indeed expressed a form of worship or adulation to him. If the speaker leads one to Allah through his words, then it is as if one worships Allah [by giving him attention], but if he leads one to Satan through his words, it is as if one worships Satan.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Whoever associates with an Imam chosen by Allah, a leader whose leadership is not endorsed by Allah, [is tantamount to having] ascribed a partner to Allah.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Imam al-Sadiq (AS) with regards to God's verse, "Whoever hopes to meet his Lord, let him work righteousness, and never associate anyone with the service of his Lord.", said: 'A man performs a good deed through which he does not seek to please his Lord, rather he wants to earn people's admiration, wishing that people would hear about it. Such a man has associated partners in the service of his Lord.'

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Beware of showing off, for whoever performs good deeds for anyone other than Allah, Allah relegates him to the one he acted for.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The prophet (s) prohibited the helpers of the truth from taking Allah’s enemies as friends and helpers … You are not allowed to reveal to them the principles of Allah’s religion, for if they hear anything about it from you, they will show enmity towards you over it.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When a servant of God stands in prayer and performs it hurriedly, God Almighty says to His angels: 'Do you not see My servant praying in a way as if the fulfilment of his need is in the hand of someone other than Me? Does he not know that the fulfilment of his need is in My Hand?'

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Whoever gives a speaker his full attention has indeed expressed a form of worship or adulation to him. If the speaker leads one to Allah through his words, then it is as if one worships Allah [by giving him attention], but if he leads one to Satan through his words, it is as if one worships Satan.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Wrongdoing is of three types: The wrongdoing that Allah forgives, the wrongdoing that Allah does not forgive and the wrongdoing that Allah does not leave uncounted. The wrongdoing that Allah does not forgive is associating partners with Him. The wrongdoing that is forgivable is the wrong that the servant commits against himself regarding that which is between him and Allah. And the wrongdoing that is not left uncounted is when people violate each other's rights in their dealings.
