The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Do not speak too much about things other than the remembrance of Allah, for verily too much speech devoid of Allah’s remembrance hardens the heart.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The remembrance of death kills [vain] desires in the self, uproots the sources of heedlessness, reassures the heart about Allah’s promises, softens one’s disposition, and breaks the pillars of unlawful] inclinations.

Imam Ali (as):
Let your entire words be confined to either God’s remembrance or reciting the Quran, for when the Prophet (s) was asked about the best of deeds in the sight of Allah, he replied: ‘Recitation of the Quran, and to die while your tongue is engaged in Allah’s remembrance.’

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
When the believer renounces this world, he is elevated and finds the sweet taste of Allah's love; he appears to the people of this world as if he is confounded in his mind, [and the truth is that] they have confounded the sweetness of Allah's love such that they do not occupy themselves with other than Him.
