Hadiths Of Signs of a Genuine Friend

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

يُمْتَحَنُ الصَّدِيقُ بِثَلَاثِ خِصَالٍ فَإِنْ كَانَ مُؤَاتِياً فِيهَا فَهُوَ الصَّدِيقُ الْمُصَافِي وَ إِلَّا كَانَ صَدِيقَ رَخَاءٍ لَا صَدِيقَ شِدَّةٍ تَبْتَغِي مِنْهُ مَالًا أَوْ تَأْمَنُهُ عَلَى مَالٍ أَوْ تُشَارِكُهُ فِي مَكْرُوه .‏

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Test a friend with three things; if he possesses them, then he is indeed a genuine friend, otherwise, he will only befriend you in times of comfort and abandon you in times of trouble: [See if you can] ask him for money, or entrust him with your property, or if he stands by your side in your distress.

Stay in touch with one another, be good to one another, have mercy on one another and be righteous brothers just as Allah, Mighty and Exalted, has commanded you.

Whoever is charitable towards the poor, and is fair towards people in spite of himself, then he is truly a believer.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

Of the best deeds in the sight of Allah is bringing happiness to a believer; either by driving away his hunger, or relieving him of his distress, or repaying his debts.

God's creatures are His dependents, so the most beloved of them to God is the one who benefits His dependents and brings happiness into a family.
