يَا أَسْرَى الرَّغْبَةِ أَقْصِرُوا فَإِنَّ الْمُعَرِّجَ عَلَى الدُّنْيَا لَا يَرُوعُهُ مِنْهَا إِلَّا صَرِيفُ أَنْيَابِ الْحِدْثَانِ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ تَوَلَّوْا مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَ اعْدِلُوا بِهَا عَنْ ضَرَاوَةِ عَادَاتِهَا

Imam Ali (as):

Prisoners of craving, desist! Anyone who fixes his hopes on the world fails to take warning until calamity, gnashing her teeth, approaches. People, restrain yourselves, turn away from your rapacious ways!

Imam Ali (as):

The pure hearts of God’s servants are places God regards [with mercy], so whoever purifies his heart Allah regards it [with mercy].

ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنَّكَ لَا تَزَالُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا كَانَ لَكَ وَاعِظٌ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ و ... وَ مَا كَانَ الْخَوْفُ لَكَ شِعَاراً وَ الْحُزْنُ لَكَ دِثَارا

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

O son of Adam! You will continue to be good as long as you have an advisor within yourself, … and insofar as fear is your undergarment, and caution is your clothing.
