اَلْقُلُوبُ إِذَا لَمْ تَخْرِقْهَا اَلشَّهَوَاتُ أَوْ يُدَنِّسْهَا اَلطَّمَعُ أَوْ يُقْسِهَا اَلنَّعِيمُ فَسَوْفَ تَكُونُ أَوْعِيَةَ اَلْحِكْمَةِ 
:
"Jesus (PBUH) said: As long as hearts do not become torn apart by desires, stained by greed and hardened by material goods, they will become vessels of deep wisdom."

إِنَّ الشَّدِيدَ لَيْسَ مَنْ غَلَبَ النَّاسَ وَ لَكِنَّ الشَّدِيدَ مَنْ غَلَبَ نَفْسَه‏ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
A strong person is not someone who overcomes others, rather a strong person is someone who overcomes his own self.

أَرْجَى النَّاسِ صَلَاحاً مَنْ إِذَا وَقَفَ عَلَى مَسَاوِيهِ سَارَعَ إِلَى التَّحَوُّلِ عَنْهَا .
Imam Ali (as):
The person who is most likely to be reformed is the one who hastens to remedy his vices as soon as he becomes aware of them.

اقْصُرْ نَفْسَكَ عَمَّا يَضُرُّهَا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تُفَارِقَكَ، وَ اسْعَ فِي فَكَاكِهَا كَمَا تَسْعى‏ فِي طَلَبِ مَعِيشَتِكَ؛ فَإِنَّ نَفْسَكَ رَهِينَةٌ بِعَمَلِك‏ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Keep your soul away from anything that could be harmful to it before it departs your body, and strive hard to set it free just as you strive to earn your livelihood, for verily your soul is hostage to your deeds.

لَا قُوَّةَ كَغَلَبَةِ الْهَوَى‏ … ِ وَ لَا عَدْلَ كَالْإِنْصَافِ وَ لَا تَعَدِّيَ كَالْجَوْرِ وَ لَا جَوْرَ كَمُوَافَقَةِ الْهَوَى‏ .
:
There is no strength like that of one who can overcome his base desires... there is no justice like fairness, no transgression like injustice, and no injustice like yielding to one's base desires.

يَا كُمَيْلُ! مُرْ أَهْلَكَ أَنْ يَرُوحُوا فِي كَسْبِ الْمَكَارِمِ وَ يُدْلِجُوا فِي حَاجَةِ مَنْ هُوَ نَائِم‏
Imam Ali (as):
O Kumayl, enjoin your people to spend the day attaining noble traits and to go out in the night to fulfil the needs of those who are asleep.

تَذاكَروا و تَلاقوا و تَحَدّثوا ؛ فإنَّ الحَديثَ جِلاءٌ للقُلوبِ ، إنَّ القُلوبَ لَتَرينُ كما يَرينُ السَّيفُ ، جِلاؤها الحَديثُ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Discuss knowledge with each other, meet one another and recite our Hadith [in your gatherings], for verily our Hadith is a polish for the hearts. Verily the hearts rust the way sword rusts and the polish for them is [our] Hadith.

تَعاهَدُوا عِبادَ اللّهِ نِعَمَهُ بإصلاحِكُم أنفُسَكُم تَزدادُوا يَقينا ، و تَربَحوا نَفِيسا ثَمِينا .
:
O servants of Allah, safeguard His blessings [and make good use of them] by reforming your selves, and your conviction will increase, and you will gain something precious and valuable.

اجْعَلْ قَلْبَكَ قَرِيناً بَرّاً، أَوْ وَلَداً وَاصِلًا ، وَ اجْعَلْ عَمَلَكَ‏ وَالِداً تَتَّبِعُهُ، وَ اجْعَلْ نَفْسَكَ عَدُوّاً تُجَاهِدُهَا ، وَ اجْعَلْ مَالَكَ عَارِيَةً تَرُدُّهَا.
:
Place your heart as a righteous companion for yourself, or as a caring son, and place your deed as a father you follow, and place your [carnal] soul as an enemy you fight against, and place your property as a loan which you are to return.
