Imam al-Kazim (as):
Neighbourliness is not only to desist from annoying [one's neighbour], but also to forbear annoyance [from him].

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Paradise is surrounded by trials and patience. So whoever endures trials in the world will enter Paradise. Hell is surrounded by pleasures and desires. Thus, whoever allows himself the world's [base] pleasures and desires will enter the Fire.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Endure [the hardships and temptations of] this world, for it is no more than an hour. What has passed, you will find neither its pain nor its sorrow, and what is yet to come, you do not know what it will be like. The world is the hour in which you live; So be patient, in it, with acts of obedience to Allah, and be patient in keeping away from acts of disobedience to Allah.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
al-Kafi : Wassha narrates from one of the companions of Imam al-Sadiq (as) that he (as) said: ‘Verily we are very patient and our Shia are even more patient than us.’ His companion asked, ‘May I be your ransom, how can your Shia be more patient than you?’ He replied, ‘Because we are patient alongside our knowledge [of everything], whereas our Shia are patient in spite of not knowing.’

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Petience is of three types: patience in the face of an affliction, enduring an act of obedience, and restraining oneself against an act of disobedience.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Verily Allah, Mighty and Exalted, bestowed a favour upon a people but they did not give thanks, consequently it became a burden upon them, and He tried a people with afflictions but they endured the trial and as a result they became a blessing for them.

Imam Ali (as):
The status of patience in one’s affairs is the same as that of the head to the body; just as the body starts to decay if the head is cut from it, likewise the affairs are ruined if patience departs from them.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Blessed are the needy for their patience, and they are the ones who see the kingdom of the heavens and the earth.

Imam Ali (as):
Patience in one’s affairs is like the head to the body, the body will decay when the head is slain from it, likewise, when one loses patience in his affairs, his affairs will get spoiled.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Paradise is surrounded by trials and patience. So whoever endures trials in the world will enter Paradise.
