الإمام العسكري (عليه السَّلام ):
إنَّ ... للشَّجاعَةِ مِقدارا، فإن زادَ علَيهِ فهُو تَهَوُّرٌ.
Imam Hasan al-‘Askari (as):
Verily... courage has a limit, which when overstepped becomes foolhardiness.

قَدرُ الرَّجُل على قَدرِ هِمَّتِهِ، و صِدقُهُ على قَدرِ مُرُوَّتِهِ، و شَجاعَتُهُ على قَدرِ أنَفَتِهِ.
Imam Ali (as):
A man s worth is in proportion to the extent of his ambition, his honesty is in proportion to the extent of his gallantry, and his courage is in proportion to the extent of his dignity [in the face of humiliation].

وقد سُئلَ عنِ الشَّجاعةِ: مُواقَفَةُ الأقرانِ، والصَّبرُ عِندَ الطِّعانِ.
Imam al-Hasan (as):
Imam al-Hasan (AS) was once asked about courage, to which he replied, It is to know when to stand up to one s opponents, and when to be patient in the face of criticism and slander.

لَو تَمَيَّزَتِ الأشياءُ لَكانَ الصِّدقُ مَع الشَّجاعَةِ، و كانَ الجُبنُ مَع الكَذِبِ.
Imam Ali (as):
If qualities were to be classified, honesty would be with courage, and cowardice with dishonesty.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
قالَ أبو عَبدِاللّه عليه السلام لرَجُلٍ: ما الفَتى عِندَكُم؟ فقالَ لَهُ: الشابُّ، فقالَ: لا، الفَتى: المُؤمِنُ، إنَّ أصحابَ الكَهفِ كانوا شُيُوخا فَسَمّاهُمُ اللّهُ عَزَّوجلَّ فِتيَةً بِإيمانِهِم.
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Imam al-Sadiq (as) once asked a man, 'Who do you consider a fata?' to which the man replied, 'A young man.' Imam said, 'No, a fata is a believer, for verily the Companions of the Cave were middle-aged men, yet Allah called them fitya [plural of fata] because of their belief.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
خادِعْ نفسَكَ في العِبادَةِ، وارفُقْ بها ولا تَقهَرْها، وخُذْ عَفوَها ونَشاطَها، إلّا ما كانَ مَكتوبا علَيكَ مِن الفَريضَةِ، فإنّهُ لابُدَّ مِن قضائها وتَعاهُدِها عندَ مَحَلِّها.
Imam Ali (as):
Lure your soul to worship, and be lenient towards it, and do not force it. Accept its excuse and take advantage of its vitality, except what has been prescribed for you as an obligation; for they must be performed, and carried out at their right time.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):
إذا وَزَنْتُم فأرْجِحوا.
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
When you weigh, tip the balance [in favor of the customer].
