الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
إنَّ أبغَضَ خَلقِ اللّهِ عبدٌ اتّقَى النّاسُ لِسانَهُ.
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The person most despised from among Allah's creatures is a man whose [sharp] tongue people are wary of.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):
قالَ اللّهُ تباركَ و تعالى : مَن أهانَ لي وَليّا فقد أرْصَدَ لِمُحارَبتي .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
'Verily Allah, Blessed and most High, says, 'He who insults a friend of Mine has indeed set himself up to fight Me.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
إنّ في جَهنّمَ لَوادِيا للمُتَكبِّرينَ يُقالُ لَه : سَقَرُ ، شَكا إلى اللّهِ عزّ و جلّ شِدّةَ حَرّهِ ، و سَألَهُ أنْ يأذَنَ لَه أنْ يَتَنفّسَ ، فتَنَفّسَ فأحْرَقَ جَهنّمَ !
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Verily there is a valley in Hell reserved for the arrogant, called Saqar, which complained to Allah, Mighty and Exalted, about its severe heat and asked His permission to breathe. So it breathed, and thus ignited Hell!

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
اِحمِلْ نفسَكَ لنفسِكَ، فإن لَم تَفعَلْ لَم يَحمِلْكَ غَيرُكَ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Bear the responsibility of your own affairs, for if you do not, no one else will bear it for you.

الإمام محمد الباقر (عليه السَّلام):
ما ذِئبانِ ضارِيانِ في غَنَمٍ لَيسَ لَها راعٍ، هذا في أوَّلِها و هذا في آخِرِها، بِأسرَعَ فيها مِن حُبِّ المالِ و الشَّرَفِ في دِينِ المؤمِنِ .
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Two rapacious wolves hunting a herd that has no shepherd is not nearly as hazardous and perilous as the love of wealth and high rank are to the faith of a believer.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):
أربَعٌ مَن كُنَّ فيهِ و كانَ مِن قَرنِهِ إلى قَدَمِهِ ذُنوباً بَدَّلَها اللّهُ حَسَناتٍ : الصِّدقُ ، و الحَياءُ ، و حُسنُ الخُلُقِ ، و الشُّكرُ .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Four qualities, when possessed by a person, cause Allah to transform his evil deeds into good deeds, even if he is sinful from head to toe. They are: honesty, modesty, good character [Akhlaq] and thankfulness.

الإمام محمد الباقر (عليه السَّلام):
إنّ العَبدَ لَيُذنِبُ الذنبَ فَيُزوى عَنهُ الرِّزقُ .
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as):
Verily when the servant commits a sin, his sustenance eludes him.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
الكبائرُ سَبعٌ : قَتلُ المؤمِنِ مُتَعَمِّداً ، و قذفُ المُحصَنَةِ ، و الفِرارُ مِنَ الزَّحفِ ، و التَّعَرُّبُ بعدَ الهِجرَةِ ، و أكلُ مالِ اليتيمِ ظُلماً ، و أكلُ الرِّبا بعدَ البَيِّنَةِ ، و كُلُّ ما أوجَبَ اللّهُ عليهِ النارَ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
There are seven grave sins: intentionally killing a believer, falsely accusing a chaste woman of fornication, fleeing from the midst of a battle, returning to a state of renegation after belief, unjustly usurping the property of the orphan, devouring usury after knowledge of its prohibition, and everything else that Allah has threatened to requite with obligatory punishment in the Fire.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام ـ في قولِ اللّهِ عزّ و جلّ : «إنْ تَجْتَنِبُوا كَبائرَ ما تُنْهَوْنَ عنه ......... » ـ : الكبائرُ التي أوجَبَ اللّهُ عزّ و جلّ علَيها النارَ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Regarding the verse: “ If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into Paradise].” Imam al-Sasiq (as) said, The major sins are the ones that Allah has threatened to requite with obligatory punishment in the Fire.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
اِتَّقُوا المُحَقَّراتِ مِن الذُّنوبِ فإنّها لا تُغفَرُ ، قلتُ : و ما المُحَقَّراتُ ؟ قالَ : الرَّجُلُ يُذنِبُ الذنبَ فيقولُ : طُوبى لي لَو لم يَكُن لي غيرُ ذلكَ!
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (as) said, ‘Beware of the sins which are usually deemed insignificant [by their perprtrator], for they will not be forgiven.’ I asked the Imam: What are the sins which are deemed insignificant? To which he replied: ‘A man commits a sin and says: I would be blessed if this was the only sin I had committed.
