Hadiths Of The Necessity of Being Thankful to God

Istidraj is when a person who is persistent in sinning, is heedless and does not thank Allah for His bounties, is given what he desires of worldly enjoyments and all these enjoyments distract him from seeking forgiveness. Such a person is being gradually driven to God's punishment as a result of his own wrongdoings, his heedlessness and his lack of thankfulness to God. So as long as a person is mindful of God's favors upon him and makes sure to thank God for them, he will not be subject to the Sunnah of Istidraj. ;
