Imam Ali (as):
Do not fear anything except your sin, and do not place your hope in anyone except your Lord.

كانَ أبي عليه السلام يقولُ: إنّهُ لَيس مِن عَبدٍ مؤمنٍ إلّا و في قَلْبهِ نُورانِ: نورُ خِيفَةٍ و نورُ رَجاءٍ، لَو وُزِنَ هذا لَم يَزِدْ على هذا، ولَو وُزِنَ هذا لَم يَزِدْ على هذا.
:
My father (AS) used to say, There is no believing servant except that in his heart are two lights, a light of fear and a light of hope, if they were each to be measured neither would exceed the other.

اُرْجُ اللّهَ رَجاءً لا يُجَرّئُكَ على مَعاصيهِ، وَ خَفِ اللّهَ خَوفاً لا يُؤْيِسُكَ مِن رَحمَتِهِ.
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Hope in Allah with such hope that it will not embolden you to disobey Him, and fear Allah with such fear that it will not cause you to despair of His mercy.

لَو تَعْلَمونَ قَدْرَ رَحمَةِ اللّهِ لاتَّكَلْتُم علَيها وَ ما عَمِلْتُم إلّا قليلًا، و لَو تَعْلَمونَ قَدْرَ غَضَبِ اللّهِ لَظَنَنْتُم بأنْ لا تَنْجوا.
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
If you knew the extent of Allah's mercy, you would have depended on it and performed only a few deeds, and if you knew the extent of Allah's anger, you would believe that you will not be saved.
