Imam Ali (as):
He who gives a great deal of thought to what he has learned masters his knowledge, and comes to understand that which he could not understand before.

عَلى المُتَعَلِّمِ أن يُدئبَ نَفسَهُ في طَلَبِ العِلمِ، ولا يَمَلَّ مِن تَعَلُّمِهِ، ولا يَستَكثِرَ ما عَلِمَ.
Imam Ali (as):
It is expected from the student to employ himself in perpetual seeking of knowledge, and not become bored with it, and not deem sufficient what he already knows.

لا يَتِمُّ عَقلُ المَرءِ حَتّى يَتِمَّ فيهِ عَشرُ خِلالٍ ... لا يَسأمُ مِن طَلَبِ العِلمِ طُولَ عُمرِهِ.
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
A persons intellect is incomplete until ten qualities come together in him…that he must never tire of seeking knowledge his whole life.

الخضرُ عليه السلام لِموسى عليه السلام: یا موسى، تَفَرَّغْ لِلعِلمِ إن كُنتَ تُريدُهُ، فإنَّ العِلمَ لِمَن تَفَرَّغَ.
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
al-Khidr (as) said to Prophet Moses (as), O Moses, devote yourself exclusively to knowledge if you want it, for verily knowledge is for the one who devotes himself exclusively to it.

مَثَلُ الّذي يَتَعلّمُ في صِغَرهِ كَالنَّقْشِ في الحَجَرِ، وَ مَثَلُ الّذي يَتَعلّمُ في كِبَرِهِ كَالّذي يَكتُبُ على الماءِ.
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
The similitude of one who learns in his childhood is like carving on stone, whereas the similitude of one who learns in old age is like writing on water.

مَن تَعَلَّمَ في شَبابِهِ كانَ بِمَنزِلَهِ الرَّسمِ في الحَجَرِ، و مَن تَعَلَّمَ و هُو كبيرٌ كانَ بمَنزِلَةِ الكِتابِ على وَجهِ الماءِ.
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Learning something during one's youth is like engraving in stone, and learning something when one is old is like writing on the surface of water.
