الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):

ثَلاثَةٌ لا عُذرَ لأحَدٍ فيها: أداءُ الأمانَةِ إلَى البَرِّ والفاجِرِ، والوَفاءُ بِالعَهدِ لِلبَرِّ والفاجِرِ، وبِرُّ الوالِدَينِ بَرَّينِ كانا أو فاجِرَينِ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):

There are three actions for which no one has an excuse: returning a trust to both the pious and the immoral; fulfillment of a promise to both the pious and the immoral; and goodness to one s parents, whether they be pious or immoral.

لَمّا سُئلَ عَن جَميعِ شَرايعِ الدِّينِ: قَولُ الحَقِّ، والحُكمُ بِالعَدلِ، والوَفاءُ بِالعَهدِ.

Imam al-Sajjad (as):

Imam Zayn al-Abidin (AS), when he was asked [to summarize] all the laws of religion, said, To tell the truth, to judge with fairness and to fulfill a promise.

He who believes in Allah and the Day of Judgment must fulfill his promise when he promises.

العِدَةُ دَينٌ، وَيلٌ لِمَن وَعَدَ ثُمّ أخلَفَ، وَيلٌ لمَن وَعَدَ ثُمّ أخلَفَ، وَيلٌ لِمَن وَعَدَ ثُمّ أخلَفَ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

The promise is a debt. Woe unto he who promises but does not fulfill it. Woe unto he who promises but does not fulfil it. Woe unto he who promises but does not fulfil it.

مَن وَعَدَهُ اللّهُ على عَمَلٍ ثَوابافهُو مُنجِزُهُ لَهُ، ومَن أوعَدَهُ على عَمَلٍ عِقابا فهُو فِيهِ بِالخِيارِ.

The Prophet Muhammad (S):

He whom Allah promises a reward for a good deed He will fulfill it, and he whom He has promised punishment for a deed, then it is [ultimately] His choice [whether He punishes or forgives].
