Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): A man complained to Imam al-Sadiq (as) that he sought livelihood and earned enough but that he was not satisfied and his self [Nafs] disputed for more. Then he said, 'Teach me something I can benefit from.' The Imam replied, 'If that which satisfies your needs suffices you, then the very least from this world will be sufficient for you, but if what satisfies your needs does not suffice you [and you want more], then all that the world contains will not be sufficient for you.' al-Kāfī
