Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): A man said to Imam al-Sadiq (as), I asked Allah to give me wealth, children, and a house and my prayer was answered, but I fear that it might be a means to gradually draw me near to Allah’s punishment (i.e. Istidraj). The Imam replied, By Allah, it is not so if followed by thanksgiving on your part. al-Kāfī
