Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as): A man came to the prophet (s) and said, 'O messenger of Allah, my family are only intent on harming me, cutting me off and abusing me. Shall I abandon them?' The prophet (s) said, 'Then Allah will abandon you all.' He said, 'What should I do then?' The prophet (s) said, 'Maintain relations with those who cut you off, grant those who deprive you, and pardon those who are unjust to you, and once you have done so, Allah will support you against them.' al-Kāfī
