الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
لا قوِىّ أقوى مِمَّن قَوِىَ على نفسِهِ فمَلَكَها و لا عاجزَ أعجزُ مِمّن أهمَلَ نفسَه فأهلَكَها.
Imam Ali (as):
No one is stronger than he who has prevailed over his own self and thus, has it under control, as there is no one weaker than he who, neglecting his own self, has ruined it.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
أَعْجَزُ النَّاسِ مَنْ عَجَزَ عَنِ اكْتِسَابِ الْإِخْوَانِ وَ أَعْجَزُ مِنْهُ مَنْ ضَيَّعَ مَنْ ظَفِرَ بِهِ مِنْهُم .
Imam Ali (as):
The weakest of people is the one who is incapable of acquiring friends, but still weaker than him is the one who cannot keep the one he has managed to make friends with [and loses his friendship].

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
خُذْ لِنَفْسِكَ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ ، خُذْ مِنْهَا فِي الصِّحَّةِ قَبْلَ السُّقْمِ، وَ فِي الْقُوَّةِ قَبْلَ الضَّعْفِ، وَ فِي الْحَيَاةِ قَبْلَ الْمَمَاتِ.
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Take from your soul for your soul; take from it in your good health before illness [strikes you], in your strength before weakness and in your lifetime before death overtakes you.

إِعْجَابُ الْمَرْءِ بِنَفْسِهِ دَلِيلٌ عَلى ضَعْفِ عَقْلِهِ.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):
إنّ مِن ضَعفِ اليَقينِ أن تُرضِيَ النّاسَ بِسَخَطِ اللّهِ تعالى، و أن تَحمَدَهُم على رِزقِ اللّهِ تعالى، و أن تَذُمَّهُم على ما لَم يُؤتِكَ اللّهُ.
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Weakness of conviction is that you satisfy people by displeasing Allah Almighty, and that you praise them for the sustenance that Allah Almighty has given you, and you blame them for what Allah has not given you.
