The most oppressive of people is one who wrongs a person who treats him with fairness.

The most just person is the one who maintains fairness despite having the power [to do injustice], and the most forbearing one is the one who forbears while having power.

Know that verily the one who treats people fairly in spite of himself is only increased by Allah in honour.

Know that verily the one who treats people fairly in spite of himself is only increased by Allah in honour.

Indeed he who is fair to people in spite of himself, Allah will only increase him in dignity.

The fairest of people is he who is fair in spite of himself without someone judging over him.

Of the rights of the believer upon his fellow believing brother is having love for him in his heart, assisting him financially from his own wealth, substituting him in his family [supporting them when he is gone], and helping him against the one who has wronged him.



The believer is one whose earnings are pure, whose character is beautiful, whose conscience is clean, who gives away whatever is surplus from his wealth, who guards whatever is surplus from his speech, who people feel safe from his evil and who is fair to people in spite of himself.

A believer is fair [even] to one who is not fair to him.


There are three things which if a person performs even one, Allah will make Paradise incumbent upon him: to give charity when one is needy oneself, cheerfulness with the whole world, and being just in spite of one's self.

One who is fair to people in spite of himself, his judgment for others will be approved of.

Whoever is charitable towards the poor, and is fair towards people in spite of himself, then he is truly a believer.

Who guarantees four things for me, in exchange for four houses in Paradise? Spend in charity and do not fear poverty, spread greetings of peace in the world, abandon disputation even if you are right, and be fair with people in spite of yourself.
