One who does not take account of himself every single day is not one of us. And when doing so, if he remembers a good deed [he has done during the day] he asks Allah to enable him to do more, and when he remembers an evil deed, he seeks Allah's forgiveness and repents for it.



Be on your guard against committing acts of disobedience to God in secret, for verily the Witness is the Judge Himself.

When a man commits a sin, a black spot appears on his heart. If he repents, it is effaced, but if he continues committing it, the spot increases and grows until it engulfs the whole heart, after which he can never again prosper.


When Allah afflicts a servant with illness, sins shed away from him in proportion to the severity of his ailment.



When you think of doing something wrong, just do not do it, for verily it may be that Allah inquires about a servant and finds him committing wrong after which He says, By My Might and Glory, I will never forgive you after that.

When committing acts of disobedience, remember the passing of their pleasure and the remaining of their consequences. At the time of committing sins, just remember how their pleasure will pass away and their consequences will stay.

Four qualities, when possessed by a person, cause Allah to transform his evil deeds into good deeds, even if he is sinful from head to toe. They are: honesty, modesty, good character [Akhlaq] and thankfulness.

The sin to be punished the fastest is to wrong someone who has not done anything wrong against you.

What is more virtuous than seeking repentance is the abandonment of sins. It is better to abandon sins [in the first place] than to ask for forgiveness/ seek repentance [after committing them].

The least of what you are recquired/ obligated to do for Allah is to not apply his blessings in His disobedience/ as means of disobeying Him. … to not employ His blessings in disobeying Him.

Prostrate yourself to Allah frequently for verily this removes sins just like the wind causes the leaves to fall off the trees.
