Patience is one of the greatest virtues in Islam. Patience means a believer’s resistance against problems in order to grow closer to God. 1

Imam al-Sadiq (PBU) said:

Patience is the uppermost part of faith.”2

According to the Quran, The Almighty Allah (s.w.t) tests all believers with different types of tragedy such as fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits. The Almighty Allah (s.w.t) said:

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient. 3

Then he encourages all believers to have patience. The Almighty Allah (s.w.t) said:

Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided. 4
