Imam al-Reḍa (as):
A believer is not a [true] believer until they have three qualities: one from their Lord, one from their Prophet and one from their authority (walÐ). The quality from their Lord is concealing their secrets. Allah the Exalted has said: Knower of the Unseen, He does not disclose His Unseen to anyone, except to those He approves of, from a Messenger… The quality from their Prophet is compliancy with people, as Allah the Exalted commanded His Prophet (Ò.a.w.) to be compliant with people, saying to him: Adopt [a policy of] excusing [the faults of people], bid what is right… As for the quality from their authority, it is patience at times of comfort or hardship.
