Imam Ali (as):

Imam al-Kazim (as):
The people of intellect have even abandoned the excesses of this world, let alone sins. Forsaking worldly excesses is [merely] a virtue whereas abandoning sins is an obligation.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
O Hisham, He who wants freedom from need without the need for riches, and comfort of the heart free from jealousy, and security in his faith should implore Allah, Mighty and Exalted, in his plea for Him to perfect his intellect. He who uses his intellect is content with that which suffices him and once he is content with what suffices him, he becomes free from need. And the one who is not content with that which suffices him [and craves for more] will never experience contentment.

Imam al-Kazim (as):
O Hisham, a man of intellect is such that he neither allows the permissible things to distract him from gratefulness to Allah, nor the prohibited things to overcome his patience.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The parable of this world is like that of a snake, it is soft to touch but it contains a deadly poison. A man of intellect is cautious whereas an ignorant child extends his hand towards it.
