قَالَ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ لِرَجُلٍ مَا تَصْنَعُ قَالَ أَتَعَبَّدُ قَالَ فَمَنْ يَعُودُ عَلَيْكَ قَالَ أَخِي قَالَ أَخُوكَ أَعْبَدُ مِنْكَ
:
Prophet Jesus (AS) asked a man, ‘What are you doing?’ The man replied, ‘I am worshipping.’ So he asked, ‘Then who is it that supports you [financially]?’ He replied, ‘My brother’, to which Prophet Jesus (AS) said, ‘Your brother is a better worshipper than you.’

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
عَوِّدْ نَفْسَكَ السَّمَاحَ وَ تَخَيَّرْ لَهَا مِنْ كُلِّ خُلُقٍ أَحْسَنَهُ فَإِنَّ الْخَيْرَ عَادَة .
Imam Ali (as):
Habituate yourself to Leniency and choose from every set of traits the best of them, for goodness can be adopted by making it a habit.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
بِرُّ الرَّجُلِ بِوَلَدِهِ بِرُّهُ بِوَالِدَيْهِ .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The parent's goodness towards his child is [tantamount to] his goodness towards his own parents.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
وَ حَقُّ الْوَلَدِ عَلَى الْوَالِدِ أَنْ يُحَسِّنَ اسْمَهُ وَ يُحَسِّنَ أَدَبَهُ وَ يُعَلِّمَهُ الْقُرْآن .
Imam Ali (as):
The right of a child incumbent upon his father is that he should give him a good name, improve his manners, and teach him the Quran.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
إِنَ خَيْرَ مَا وَرَّثَ الْآبَاءُ لِأَبْنَائِهِمُ الْأَدَبُ، لَاالْمَالُ؛ فَإِنَّ الْمَالَ يَذْهَبُ، وَ الْأَدَبَ يَبْقى .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
The best inheritance parents bequeath their progeny are good manners, not wealth, for wealth goes away but good manners endure.

الإمام الرّضا (عليه السَّلام ):
بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَاجِبٌ وَ إِنْ كَانَا مُشْرِكَيْنِ وَ لَا طَاعَةَ لَهُمَا فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَل .
Imam al-Reḍa (as):
Being good to one's parents is obligatory, even if they are polytheists, but there is no obedience due to them if it entails disobedience to Allah, Mighty and Exalted.

الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
تَقَاضَى عَلِيٌّ وَ فَاطِمَةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فِي الْخِدْمَةِ فَقَضَى عَلَى فَاطِمَةَ ع بِخِدْمَتِهَا مَا دُونَ الْبَابِ وَ قَضَى عَلَى عَلِيٍّ ع بِمَا خَلْفَه .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Ali and Fatima sought the prophet’s advice about household chores, and the prophet (s) suggested that Fatima should do the chores that are done inside the house and Ali should do the chores that required him to go out.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):
أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ رَفَعَتْ مِنْ بَيْتِ زَوْجِهَا شَيْئاً مِنْ مَوْضِعٍ إِلَى مَوْضِعٍ تُرِيدُ بِهِ صَلَاحاً إِلَّا نَظَرَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهَا وَ مَنْ نَظَرَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ لَمْ يُعَذِّبْه .
The Prophet Muhammad (S):
Any woman who so much as moves something from one place to another in her husband’s house in order to make an improvement is regarded by Allah with mercy and whoever Allah regards with mercy He does not punish.
