الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

إِنَّمَا قَلْبُ الْحَدَثِ كَالْأَرْضِ الْخَالِيَةِ مَهْمَا أُلْقِيَ فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ قَبِلَتْهُ.

Imam Ali (as):

The heart of a youngster is like a virgin land; it accepts whatever is planted in it.

خُذِ الْحِكْمَةَ أَنَّى كَانَتْ فَإِنَّ الْحِكْمَةَ ضَالَّةُ كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ.

Imam Ali (as):

Seek wisdom wherever it might be [even from the people of hypocrisy], for wisdom is the lost property of every believer.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):

خُذُوا مِنْ كُلِّ عِلْمٍ أَحْسَنَهُ فَإِنَّ النَّحْلَ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ كُلِّ زَهْرٍ أَزْيَنَهُ فَيَتَوَلَّدُ مِنْهُ جَوْهَرَانِ نَفِيسَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ لِلنَّاسِ وَ الْآخَرُ يُسْتَضَاءُ بِهِ.

Imam Ali (as):

Acquire from each type of knowledge the best of it, just like a honeybee which searches for the best flowers to eat their sweet nectar and thus is able to produce two precious substances one of which contains healing for the people and the other [honey wax] is used for producing light.

إِنَّمَا زَهَّدَ النَّاسَ فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ كَثْرَةُ مَا يَرَوْنَ مِنْ قِلَّةِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِمَا عَلِمَ.

Imam Ali (as):

Verily people have no desire to gain knowledge because of the numerous instances they witness of the people’s lack of action in accordance with what they know.
