Today in Ramadhan (7) - Passing away of Abu Talib (r.a.).

Today coincides with the passing away of the Prophet's uncle; Abu Talib who defended the Prophet until his last breath and, like lady Khadija, passed away while he was in exile along with the Prophet and the Muslims.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الْخَلْقُ عِيَالِي فَأَحَبُّهُمْ إِلَيَّ أَلْطَفُهُمْ بِهِمْ وَ أَسْعَاهُمْ فِي حَوَائِجِهِمْ.

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

مَن لَم يَعْرِفْنا و لَم يُنْكِرْنا كانَ ضالاًّ حتّى يَرْجِعَ إلَى الهُدَى الّذي افْتَرَضَ اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ طاعَتِنا الواجِبةِ ، فإن يَمُتْ على ضَلالَتِهِ يَفْعَلِ اللّهُ بهِ ما يَشاءُ .

He who neither knows us [i.e. Ahl al-Bayt] nor rejects us is astray, until he returns to the guidance that Allah has made incumbent upon him...

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

لِكُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ أَسَاسٌ‏، وَ أَسَاسُ الْإِسْلَامِ حُبُّنَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ.

Everything has a foundation, and the foundation of Islam is the love for us, Ahl al-Bayt (the household of the Prophet).

Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as)

إنَّ اللّه عزّ و جلّ لَم يَبْعثْ نَبيّا إلّا بصِدقِ الحديثِ و أداءِ الأمانةِ إلَى البَرِّ و الفاجر.

Allah did not send any messenger except with two traits: truthfulness in speech and returning a trust to its owner; be he good or wicked.

إنّ القصد أمر يحبّه اللَّه عزّ و جلّ، و إنّ السّرف أمر يبغضه اللَّه عزّ و جلّ ...

Verily moderation is a virtue loved by Allah, Mighty and Exalted, and squandering is a vice that Allah despises.

لَيْسَ مِنْ مَلَكٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا وَ هُمْ يَسْأَلُونَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنْ يَأْذَنَ لَهُمْ فِي زِيَارَةِ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ ع فَفَوْجٌ يَنْزِلُ وَ فَوْجٌ يَعْرُجُ.
