الإمام جعفر الصادق (عليه السَّلام ):
يُمْتَحَنُ الصَّدِيقُ بِثَلَاثِ خِصَالٍ فَإِنْ كَانَ مُؤَاتِياً فِيهَا فَهُوَ الصَّدِيقُ الْمُصَافِي وَ إِلَّا كَانَ صَدِيقَ رَخَاءٍ لَا صَدِيقَ شِدَّةٍ تَبْتَغِي مِنْهُ مَالًا أَوْ تَأْمَنُهُ عَلَى مَالٍ أَوْ تُشَارِكُهُ فِي مَكْرُوه .
Imam Ja‘far al-Ṣadiq (as):
Test a friend with three things; if he possesses them, then he is indeed a genuine friend, otherwise, he will only befriend you in times of comfort and abandon you in times of trouble: [See if you can] ask him for money, or entrust him with your property, or if he stands by your side in your distress.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
فِي الضِّيقِ يَتَبَيَّنُ حُسْنُ مُوَاسَاةِ الرَّفِيقِ .
Imam Ali (as):
The genuineness of one’s friendship can be assessed by how he helps you out in straitened circumstances.

الإمام علي (عليه السَّلام):
إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الرَّفِيقُ رَفِيقاً لِأَنَّهُ يَرْفَقُكَ عَلَى صَلَاحِ دِينِكَ فَمَنْ أَعَانَكَ عَلَى صَلَاحِ دِينِكَ فَهُوَ الرَّفِيقُ الشَّفِيق .
Imam Ali (as):
Verily a friend is called a friend [Rafiq], because he helps you gently [Yarfaquka] in improving your religion, so whoever helps you in improving your religion is a compassionate friend indeed.

رسول الله (صلی الله علیه و آله):
مَنْ مَشَى فِي عَوْنِ أَخِيهِ وَ مَنْفَعَتِهِ فَلَهُ ثَوَابُ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّه .

تَبَسُّمُ الرجُلِ في وَجهِ أخِيهِ حَسَنةٌ، و صَرفُ القَذى عَنهُ حَسَنةٌ .

الإمام الكاظم (عليه السَّلام):
لا تَبذُلْ لإِخوانِكَ مِن نفسِكَ ما ضَرُّهُ علَيكَ أكثَرُ مِن مَنفَعَتِهِ لَهُم .

مَن رَدَّ عَن قَومٍ مِنَ المُسلِمينَ عادِيةَ ماءٍ أو نارٍ وَجَبَت لَهُ الجَنَّةُ .

Whoever averts from a group of Muslims a disaster coming from water or fire becomes deserving of obligatory entrance into Paradise.
